Why I walk
I got a surprise phone call today from one of my local television stations. They would like to interview me about the local Susan G Komen Race for the Cure, being held this weekend. For the past 2 years, I've had a fundraising team that has done pretty well, so they would like to talk to me about why I walk.
Initially, I thought it was a great opportunity to plug my blog and talk about why I created a website dedicated to finding safe and natural skin care for cancer patients. It's like they knew I was trying to get the word out about what I was trying to do, and magically came knocking at my door. Or, knocking at my phone, as it were.
So, while mentally rehearsing how I was going to plug Skin Cares and the importance of natural skin care and more regulations for the cosmetics industry, I started thinking about why they called to talk to me in the first place. They want to know why I walk.
Why? Well, because I'm a breast cancer survivor. Is there any other reason? This is going to be the worlds shortest interview.
But when I finally stop and think about why I walk, I know the answer. I walk to fight for researching the causes and the cures for breast cancer, and all cancers really. I walk to support those who are also survivors, and those who have lost their battle to this terrible disease. I walk to honor those who have loved and supported me through this journey. And I walk for those who can not walk for themselves.
